Carol Ann Byrne -

I met my uncle Alex when we went first came to Australia in 1981 and went to visit enroute to Queensland. At that time I also met my 10 cousins. It was a fun, warm, busy household that seemed to work like clockwork, with my Uncle Alex and Aunt Eileen at the helm. With only a facial expression from either of them everyone seemed to know what was expected. Every time I met him after that he was always the same, a calm, gentleman who loved his family dearly. I was blessed to have known him and know that, as sad as it is for us that he is no longer here in physical form, he will be watching over his family as lovingly as ever, with his wife Eileen by his side. God Bless Uncle Alex.

Got to meet Uncle Alex once. When he visited Greenock back in the early eighties, my wee brother Michael and i took him to Morton v Aberdeen at Cappielow. I was bursting with pride and had to stop myself telling all around me my Uncle played not only for the great Glasgow Celtic, but my team Greenock Morton. Rest in peace - he was a legend in our family

Dave Coughlin -

A Champion until your last day and a gentleman every day prior. Your devotion to your family is both an example and an inspiration to us all, certainly in what I aim for within my own immediate family. I have known you all for so many years and while this day has been coming for some time, it is no doubt painful for you all. There is no doubt he was proud of you all and many of you will carry his love of family & children through as part of his legacy. A wonderful man and a Champion off the field more than on. Love to you all Dave, Ali & Owen Coughlin
