Mike Parer -

Dear Susannah, Thanks for your message of John‘s death 30 April. We knew each other at St James Gardenvale parish before 1952 and then he joined me at Corpus Christi seminary in 1953 for two years. I intermittently followed his career in agricultural science with my brother Bill and his research projects over the years. It was at the launch of Byways at the CCC Guys first Friday in December that we made contact once more. We had further contact through the remarkable coalition of ACCCR and his passion for the Pilgrim people to aggressively participate in the forthcoming plenary council. He was a faithful warrior for Jesus all his life and showed a loyalty to church management. He will be sadly missed in Adelaide church precincts and pleading his case at the plenary council. He would argue his case with great tenacity and meticulous attention to fine detail; he was truly a heavyweight intellectual opponent in any debate. He has truly been a warrior for Jesus and there are not many left to take his place. I will tune in to his funeral tomorrow and remember his contribution to his expanding family and church life with great affection.

Rod and Susan Page -

Dear Mary Ann and family. Our lives are richer for having met and interacted with John (and you) in our visits to Adelaide over the past two years. His passion for many things, especially his advocacy for renewal into a more adult Catholic Church, moved us and many others. We thank John. Please know we are ‘with you’ this morning from Canberra. May he rest gently in the Presence.

Ab and Elaine Elias -

Ab and I watched the beautiful and moving service via tv. Our hearts go out to you, Mary Ann and family. John was an exceptional person. We were blessed to know him. Elaine Elias Steve's memorial made us realize just what an amazing man John was.

Pina KAra -

I am so sorry to hear of Johns passing. He was a special man, I loved his sense of humour (dry as it was). He was a great story teller and had lots to tell... A gentle man and not easily forgotten. Please accept my condolences Mary Ann, Peter and to the family. May John rest in peace and always be remembered. Warm Regards Pina Kara
