Bernadette’s Funeral Mass will be celebrated in
St Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 59 Newton Road, Newton
on FRIDAY 15 MAY 2026 commencing at 10:30 a.m.
Following refreshments, the Committal Service
will take place in the Catholic Section of
Enfield Memorial Park, Browning Street, Clearview.
In lieu of floral tributes, memorial donations to
the Dernancourt Conference of the
St Vincent de Paul Society would be appreciated.
Envelopes will be available at the service,

Bernadette, you were a treasured friend and I feel privileged to have had you in my life. I always admired your passion, strength, courage and wisdom. We shared a love of books, always enjoyed a good political discussion and had many dinner and movie nights. I'm so glad I met you all those years ago. The world was a better place with you in it, and you will be greatly missed.

Bernadette was one of a kind. Bernadette was very sincere, honest and loved deeply. Everyone who knew Bernadette got the real deal. She was never pretentious and treated everyone with dignity and respect. Working with Bernadette at St Joseph’s School was the best times. She was so much fun and supported you if you were ever treated unjustly. Bernadette was always at the forefront to make things right and just. I will continue to love Bernadette and I will miss my friend everyday for as long as I live. I will hang on to the hope I will see her again.
I was so happy we got to catch up, I have happy memories of Bernadette, she was always a great friend growing up. One of my fondest memories, as kids we loved playing school, she was always the teacher (a good one too, not sure I was always a good student 🤣) She will be very much missed. My prayers are with her family at this sad time.

Dearest Bernadette…. 1976 I met a skinny sassy blonde with the most beautiful smile. You were kind, loving, friendly and fitted right in with the small group of girls navigating Year 12 in a new school. Within a short amount of time that schoolgirl friendship developed into a lifelong bond which withstood the pressures of adult life, marriages, motherhood, joy and loss. 2026, fifty years later and I am now saying goodbye to you. I am devastated at your loss and so sad for the suffering you endured at the end. Thank you for your friendship and all the love. Rest in peace now dear friend, our souls will find each other again in another life, at another time. 💔

Dear Timothy and family, I remember Bernadette at school as an 'old soul'. She seemed wise and steady, yet could demonstrate a razor wit, which I so admired. When I moved to Melbourne for work in the early 80's, Bernadette paid me a visit while she was there for a conference. I really appreciated that!
