Josephine (Jo) Coonan -

With deepest sympathy to the Sisters of St Joseph. Remembering Catherine, a woman of considerable substance imbued with deep faith, a champion of justice for all and particularly of the poor and marginalized. An inspirational educator, leader and mentor, now welcomed into eternal life. Peace and blessings.

Joan Haren -

Margaret Giles (nee Kerin) -

I first met Catherine and Ellen through YCW but I knew them as first cousins to my very close friend Sr Carmel Clarke who was my friend from Year 4 at Mt Carmel Girls School. Catherine and Ellen and several other friends travelled to Sydney to Baulkham Hills for Carmel's Profession. On the way back to Adelaide by train, Catherine told us that she was entering the Josephites too and though she did not announce it then another old school friend with us, Geraldine Mitchell, had plans to enter the Good Shepherd Sisters, and she is still there, based in WA. We all have great memories of the trip to Sydney and the fun we had. All these women were strong role models and I was in contact with them all over the following years. A few years ago Ellen (Nell) was over from Tasmania on holidays and she and Catherine joined a couple of us, including Sr. Carmel Clarke for lunch and we had a great catchup. It is comforting to know that Carmel and Catherine are reunited in Heaven and hopefully I will meet up with them one day. May both "Joeys" Rest in Peace. True daughters of Mary MacKillop.
