Caleb Evans -

I would like to give thanks to Mr Leonard, as we called him, for being the best relief teacher I've ever had. Rest easy, Big Frank.

Ray Clark -

I have the fondest memories of Frank as a teacher and friend at Strathmont High. He later asked me to assist him as a selector and tactician when he coached the Norwood Under 19s; we had immense success and I remember his insistent, uncompromising and astute performances as a coach and developer of young players. In six unforgettable years we shared many intense moments and discussions in our footy roles and quite a few laughs. One particular memory was when I asked, after a few months of sitting in the coach's box with him, why all players in the 19s had the same Christian name. He was always quick to respond to any player's skill or decision-making error with "F...ing (add surname)". Even if he became irate on the bench or in the box, he had the amazing capacity to suppress anger or disappointment when he talked to his players calmly and wisely at any break. I learned a lot from him about the game, about managing people, about life. Condolences to Crystal and his daughters, who I remember as babies and young girls.

I taught with Frank at Strathmont High School for many years. Played basketball with him ('G grade at Salisbury') , spent many hours at the Highlander Hotel with him Friday after school (he didn't drink), and had a memorable kayak trip with him an others in the Murray backwaters. He was larger than life character, who I can picture well after all these years (decades) Condolences to his family.
