You were one of the most beautiful people in the world Jane, funny, witty, loyal and kind. You were a great Mum, a great lawyer and a great friend. Everything you did was genuine, thoughtful and caring. You will be so missed because you made the world a better place.

Heather Jones -

My deepest sympathies to all of Jane's family, who must be so shocked by her illness and sudden demise. Jane was a light to us all. Her shining copper hair and bright green eyes were just a hint of the power-house within. She will be missed forever.

Dianne and José -

To Chris, family and friends, José and I are deeply saddened by the loss of beautiful Jane. We send our heartfelt love and pray that the deep peace that passes all understanding be yours as you negotiate your lives without Jane by your sides. She chose dignity and that was so very courageous of her, and of course, so very courageous of you all as she stepped onto that path. Fly high, Jane! ???

Con Kourakis -

You may not be physically with us,but always in our memories. For me it was our communal meals on the deck every summer which accompanied the bottles of wine ?, at Coffin Bay. Such beautiful person.

Catriona Lemfors -

My heartfelt condolences to Barbara, Peter and your extended family.

Dear Jane, I will never forget the first time I saw you sitting with your beloved Chris at Lucias having lunch. Your smiles for one another were infectious and they stayed that way until the end. Your love for one another was so honest and open. Your beautiful smile, your warmth, wit, vitality and intelligence leave us all the poorer. You were a brave comrade and you whistled your own tune. You will never be forgotten. My condolences to Chris and your loving family.

Caroline and Anton Johnson -

Jane was to so many of us a spirit of fun, commitment and more recently incredible courage and strength. We got to know Jane as a first time mother to Lucy who always brought a laugh and a smile to our parent gatherings. She was humorously never afraid to admit to all her stumbles and inadequacies as we were all experiencing - but maybe not as honestly - trying to cope with this new demanding “life” that we had suddenly had been presented with. With these shared experiences and often hard times, Jane was always looking on the bright side. She was a tonic and integral to the life and soul of the parenting group. Our shared parenting friendship grew and saw us with our second babies – we also had a boy. And beyond, until now. Chris, your quiet strength and commitment to Jane’s care was an example to us all. It is hard to know what to say and do in these circumstances. Our thoughts are with you, Anton and Caroline

Great friends are hard to find, harder to leave and impossible to forget. When I left Adelaide I didn’t see Jane as often, but she was always there, when I visited she was the first to organize many gatherings of friends and good times. My daughter, her goddaughter share the same birthday, we shall toast Jane each year. The memories live forever.

Dear and Darling Jane Memories very much loved of young Uni days when we girls were thick as thieves in pursuit of ideas, romance, witt, sophistication – boys with conversation and gorgeous faces, out on the dancefloors and sneaking into nightclubs with our op shop dresses on, sipping on a $2 straight scotch all night. This Beautiful Striking Elegant Fine Stylish True Friend (in looks, intellect and dance moves) out to meet the world -all girl power and presence- with her inner core of knowing thyself and staying true and growing ever soulful. • Who can forget us sewing in the afternoon for outfits that night and your harem shorts unstitching on was it Toucan’s (?) dance floor • Walking the suburb, meeting the neighbourhood sobering up from 21st martinis • Waving goodbye on the Overlander train on the way to Sydney Town and Matt Finish -receiving your long letter of the journey on the Rail’s toilet paper towels • Letters from a forest in was it Russia (?) with a brain surgeon in tow and snow • Me at the Napier building across from you at the Duck Pond and your serious lawyer crew- Charlie and his “Hell No” exam answer! • That story of you and your girlfriend flagging a Truckie down after a Melbourne Cup Day at Morphettville racecourse- not a taxi in sight • Always being with and for me – my uni job at Lucia’s and you across at the Providore and yes forgiving me for my chicken little, sheltered ways and one or two sad days what a lovely woman, person and the lives and loves you built If I could I would buy each a Ruinart to remind those you are loving, looking over with faith and confidence and keeping close: your love Chris, your Kiddies, your parents, Sally and Annie too. Yes, I can see Jane with a magic wand lighting the way forward – like a beautiful, good witch of the north and love that image too. Love Cynthia

Condolences to Jane’s family and friends. The news this week of Jane’s passing has brought sadness and yet Jane has shown us there is another path we can choose. I will always remember, and be grateful for, Jane’s preparedness to help a friend through a difficult case. Courage then and now.

Claire O'Connor -

Jane was such a champion in her work when I knew her at legal aid and in her immigration work in the latter years when I saw her again. She had such compassion and skill. I could see the way she lived life to the full and admired her for the way she was such a strong and true friend to those she cared about. Such a vibrant woman. Love and thoughts to her family.

Susan Dawson -

It was an absolute pleasure to have known Jane. She was a thoroughly decent human being. My thoughts are with family and friends at this time.

Jane came into my life through Chris, I found the more I knew of her nature , the more I wanted to know. She was honest, fun and had a great personality. Time and distance prevented a deep friendship developing. I feel honoured and privileged to have known her. My heart bleeds for Chris and her family n friends. Anna ?
