Roger was a dear friend and a mentor of mine, when we served together on the Rostrevor College Board, and eventually I took his place as Chair. Those years I look back on fondly, they were great years in so many ways, not least of which, was the great camradarie that existed, and together much was achieved. Roger will always be remembered by Brenda and I as a humble soul, there were no airs and graces with Roger, his legacy is that he did not have a bad bone in his body, he wanted only to serve, not to be served. We express our deep condolences to Ginny and family, rest assured Roger will never be forgotten.

Where to start on reflections of such a dear mate..........back to 1958-63 at Sacred Heart College and then eversince and then early courtship days with his beloved Ginny. In the famous blue Mini Minor and often to the Angove's front gate and along the crunchy gravel path to her front door. I can still hear the crunchy gravel. Roger would also call regularly in the Mini to our place at Mile End and drive to the backdoor and greet us in his usual happy, well mannered cheery way. My father would sometimes say " Haven't you got a home to go to Orchard" Roger always responded in his usual proper and polite way. Nothing ever phased him. Ginny a was the most special person in his life. He was so proud of her along withe their gang James, Sam, Tom and Caroline. I remenber his pride at James 21st like it was yesterday. We will always remember you dear friend and we will look after Ginny and your very special family. Thank you for being my very special friend. Rest well and see you another day.........Bill \

Our thoughts and prayers are with you Ginny at this sad time. Roger was a lovely, pleasant and decent human being and we enjoyed the times we spent with you and him. Alas, as time passes, those meetings seem far too brief. We will remember Roger fondly. Love from Liz and Rob Butchart

You were a great friend during our boarding days at SHC I shared the roving duties with you in the 1st eighteen you were as the leader of the roving division on of the toughest footballers I ever played with. We shared I believe which still stands today(because they changed the distance to metres) a time of 44.5 sec for the open 4x 110 Yards. Many other great times we had. Special wishes to Ginny at this time.

Dear Ginny and Family, My thoughts and prayers are with you from afar in Ireland as you today celebrate Roger's life and take him to his final rest. I know you will remember him as a loving husband and father; I remember him as a man of great integrity and commitment. He was a faithful and wise guide to me as Head of Rostrevor when he led the Board so many years ago now. I will remember this enthusiasm and the energy he gave to everything. May he rest in Peace and may you be consoled by the thoughts and prayers of so many who gathered at his requiem which I watched via the live stream late your time on Friday evening in Dublin. God Bless and my sincerest condolences to you all.

Dear Ginny, I was shocked and saddened to read of Roger’s death in the SHOC bulletin. I have very fond memories of both Roger and you. Roger was a fantastic football coach and mentor to me in the 4 years I lived in Adelaide between 1972 and 1976. I wish you well in your bereavement. No doubt your family will be important going forward. Respectfully yours Paul Dillon
